SAO PAULO – Police in northeastern Brazil say they have arrested a man accused of sexually abusing his daughter for 12 years and fathering her two children.
Maranhao state police spokesman Glauber Dias says Raimundo Vicente Barbosa da Silva confessed to abusing his daughter starting when she was 14 years old and fathering two daughters, aged 5 years and 2 months.
Police acting on an anonymous tip arrested Silva on Tuesday in the city of Pirapemas. It is not clear if he has an attorney yet.
In a similar case, Maranhao police arrested Jose Agostinho Pereira in June and charged him with imprisoning his daughter for 12 years in his home and fathering her seven children.
Pereira was killed earlier this month during a prison riot.
